Host A Wedding at the DEC
From the day you tour our wedding reception area down to the last wedding dance of the night, our staff will be with you every step of the way. The DEC is focused on making sure that your wedding planning is perfect, and no small detail is forgotten. Your personal Event Manager will help plan the wedding of your dreams and will work with you to coordinate all the details behind the scenes, so your wedding celebration runs smoothly.
The Aberdeen, SD event complex features elegant DECor that is sure to go with any theme and wedding colors you have chosen for your special day. Our convenient location allows for your wedding guests to stay on-site at one of our two hotels and dine at the award winning Maverick’s Steak and Cocktails. We are with-in walking distance to Target, Walmart, the Aberdeen Mall, and numerous banks, coffee shops, restaurants, and retail shopping options. Your out of town guests will enjoy being just five minutes from the Aberdeen Regional Airport.
The Dakota Event Center features luxurious amenities, small and large banquet halls, an experienced wedding caterer, and hotel room accommodations available for your guests and bridal party at the Aberdeen Holiday Inn Express & Suites or the Hampton Inn & Suites.
Wedding Receptions
Our wedding reception package includes:
- Menu tasting for up to six individuals
- Room design session to bring your room to life prior to your special day
- Professional banquet staff including experienced and friendly bartenders
- Complete setup including tables, champagne linens, china & silverware
- Round or Banquet style seating with champagne colored linens
- Tables are clothed and skirted in champagne for bridal party head table
- Stage sections for bridal party/head table
- One wireless microphone for bridal party head table
- LCD projector and screens
- Gift table, clothed and skirted
- Guestbook table, clothed and skirted
- Dance floor, installed
- Complimentary bridal suite available on wedding night
- Complimentary gift opening location (subject to availability)

Wedding Ceremonies
The Dakota Event Center can also be your place to hold a wedding ceremony. Depending on your guest count, your marriage ceremony and wedding reception can utilize the same space. Or if you prefer, the DEC can house both the ceremony and reception in separate spaces. Included in the event set-up:
- Room design session to bring event space to life prior to your special day
- Complete setup and tear of the event
- Classroom or theatre style seating
- Staging for wedding party, bride, groom and officiant
- Microphone for the ceremony
- Sound system for music during wedding ceremony
- Gift table clothed and skirted
- Guest book table, clothed and skirted

Wedding Rehearsal Dinner
If you are looking for a location to hold your dinner after the wedding rehearsal, the DEC is a perfect spot. After the ceremony rehearsal we invite you to bring your wedding party and family members to meet and mingle before the wedding day blur begins. Included in the event set-up:
- Room design session to bring your room to life prior to your special day
- Professional banquet staff including experienced and friendly bartenders
- Complete setup including tables, champagne linens, china & silverware
- Round or Banquet style seating with champagne colored linens
- Buffet or plated style dinner setup
- Full catering menu including hors d’oeuvres, buffets, plated dinners, steak dinners and dessert options
